1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Screen Folders macOS application and the Screen Folders website. It explains what information the app accesses, what stays on your device, and the limited diagnostic and website data that may be processed.

2. Data the app collects

Screen Folders uses Sentry to receive crash reports, app-hang reports, and anonymous session-health information. A report may include the app version and build, macOS version, hardware characteristics, timestamps, stack traces, error details, and whether an app session ended in a crash.

The app configures Sentry not to send default personal information, screenshots, view hierarchy, network request details, or performance traces. The developer does not intentionally receive your name, email address, location, file names, file paths, file contents, or behavioral usage analytics. Sentry may process the connection IP address to receive and protect the service, but the app does not use it as a user identity. Diagnostic data is not sold or used for advertising or tracking.

Screen Folders also uses TelemetryDeck to collect anonymous usage statistics that show which features people actually use. A usage signal contains a fixed event name chosen from a short list in the app's source code — such as finishing onboarding, opening the paywall, expanding a Screen Folder, or changing an appearance setting — together with the app version and build, macOS version, device model and architecture, language and region, and how many days have passed since the app was installed.

Usage signals never include folder names, file names, paths, file contents, the text you type, or the values you choose; a signal records that a setting changed, not what it changed to. Signals are grouped by a random identifier that the app generates on your Mac and sends only as a salted hash. That identifier is not derived from your hardware, your Apple Account, or any advertising identifier, and it cannot be used to identify you or to recognise you across other apps or websites.

To limit how much is sent, repeatable actions are reported at most once per day. You can turn usage statistics off at any time in Screen Folders › Settings › General › Privacy. When the setting is off, the app stops sending usage signals entirely rather than filtering them later.

3. Files and folders you choose

Screen Folders accesses only folders you select using standard macOS controls. That access lets the app display a folder's contents, observe changes, create system thumbnails, and perform file actions you request, such as opening, moving, renaming, copying, or deleting an item.

Finder and macOS remain responsible for the underlying files. Screen Folders does not upload file contents, file names, folder names, or paths to the developer or to a third-party service.

4. Information stored on your Mac

To remember your setup, Screen Folders stores app preferences, display placement and appearance settings, folder display names, last-known local paths, item layout information, and security-scoped bookmarks granted by macOS. The app may also keep temporary icon and thumbnail caches for performance.

This information is stored locally in the app's preferences, application-support storage, and caches. It is used only to provide the app's features and is not included in Sentry diagnostic reports.

5. Messages you send to the developer

Contact Developer in the menu bar opens a chat with the developer. It is used only if you write a message; opening the window sends nothing.

When you send a message, its text is delivered to a service the developer runs at feedback.delitx.dev and is forwarded to a private Telegram group where the developer answers. The first message of a conversation is accompanied by the app version, the macOS version, and the app's display language, so a report can be reproduced. Your name, Apple ID, file names, file paths, and file contents are never added on their own. Anything else the developer learns about you is what you choose to write or attach.

You can attach files to a message, such as a screenshot or a log. Only the files you pick or drop on the window are uploaded, and Screen Folders never attaches one by itself. An attachment travels with the message to the same service, is delivered into the same private Telegram group, and is removed when the conversation is deleted. Files the developer sends back are fetched by the app through that service as well.

A conversation has no account. Your Mac holds a random conversation identifier and a secret token, kept in the macOS keychain, and nothing else identifies you. Giving an email address is optional; it is used only to send you a reply you have not already seen in the app, and you can remove it at any time.

Messages, replies, attachments, and the technical details listed above are stored on the developer's service so the conversation can continue across launches. Delete Conversation in that window erases them from the service and closes the thread; conversations that see no activity for a year are deleted automatically. Telegram processes the messages as part of delivering them, under its own privacy policy.

6. Retention and your choices

Local configuration remains on your Mac until you remove a Screen Folder, change its folder access, clear the app's local data, or remove that data from macOS. Temporary caches may be cleared by macOS automatically.

You can revoke a folder's ongoing use by removing it from Screen Folders or by choosing a different managed folder location. Removing a Screen Folder removes the app's active saved configuration for that folder; it does not delete the underlying folder or its files. Sentry and TelemetryDeck retain diagnostic reports and usage signals according to the developer's plan and settings with each service. You may use the support page to ask about diagnostic data, although reports and signals are not associated with an app account or your identity, so they cannot be traced back to an individual person on request.

7. Sharing and third parties

Sentry processes the limited diagnostic data described above on the developer's behalf to identify and fix reliability problems, and TelemetryDeck processes the anonymous usage signals described above to show which features are used. Telegram carries the messages you choose to send through Contact Developer, and Cloudflare hosts the service that relays them. None of these services receives your files, and none is used for advertising or cross-app tracking. Actions that you initiate may also use standard macOS services such as Finder, Quick Look, or the Trash. Apple separately processes App Store downloads, purchases, and any diagnostics you choose to share with Apple under Apple's own privacy policy.

8. Website

The Screen Folders website does not use advertising pixels, analytics scripts, user accounts, or marketing cookies. Like most websites, its hosting provider may process basic request data, such as an IP address, browser information, requested page, and time of access, to deliver and protect the site. The developer does not use that technical data to profile visitors or combine it with app activity.

If you email support, the developer receives the message and any information you choose to include in it.

9. Children's privacy

Screen Folders is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children; the same limited diagnostic reporting and optional anonymous usage statistics apply to every installation.

10. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated if the app's features or data practices change. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date. The App Store privacy disclosures will also be updated before a release that changes data collection.
